The Best Nest

We have been watching and listening to a pair of birds build a cozy nest inside our wall. We tried to fix the problem last weekend but Ted's 24' ladder was not quite tall enough. We decided to work on it again this weekend as Ted has been away at a conference all week. The birds have been quite busy pulling out the insulation and filling in the hole with sticks. We have talking a lot about the birds and the nest as the girls have been quite concerned. Yesterday Kyla said "I have a solution to our bird problem. We should read the Dr. Suess bird book.Maybe that would give us an idea." The book is called The Best Nest by P.D. Eastman. After we read it we realized that the the birds think ..."there's no nest like an old nest..." Oh well. I have to give her credit though. What a creative idea!

Afternoon walk

Thursday April 3, 2008

We have been enjoying the sun and made it up to our duck pond today to look for baby ducks. No sign of them yet! We also met some new neighbors today that have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. We are all very excited to have some friends our age in the neighborhood!

Kyla's masterpieces

Here are a few drawings Kyla made to put up in her newly painted and organized playroom.

Jill's first movie

Yesterday we took the girls to Horton Hears a Who at the movie theater. We were a bit nervous since this was Jill's first time at the Movies. Much to our surprise she sat through the entire movie. She did help herself to a Sprite and lots of popcorn which was quite a treat for both girls.

Last week Jill turned 2 1/2. Hard to believe that she is 2 1/2. Somedays I think wow time goes by fast and other days I think WOW it seems like she has been 2 forever!!!! I think you all know what days those would be. :)

Kyla was feeling "a bit like Minnie Mouse today".

Spring Snow

We have been waiting since December to have snow in Bellingham. Everyone had been telling the girls that is snows a lot in Bellingham. This was the first time we had any accumulation and the girls were thrilled. Our dog Maddie enjoyed herself as well. We got to sled in our backyard, make a snowman and make lots and lots of snow angels! By the end of the day the snow had melted and Maddie the dog enjoyed the snowman's nose for her afternoon snack.

The beginning....

I have been feeling a bit guilty that I did not create baby books for my two daughters. I did a first year book for both of them but after that nothing. I have a computer full of pictures and want to do something with them. I have tried for a few years now to get into scrapbooking but no luck. I guess it is not my thing. I have really enjoyed reading the blog of some of my friends and thought this would be the perfect solution to my woes. No more feeling guilty and now the out of town family memebers can enjoy our daily life from afar.
